Questionnaires and assessments
Post-Fosal Results
After completing the post-fosal, I have realized that my confidence in my leadership abilities has come a long way this semester. My scores went from 3's to 5's in certain areas, which shows me that this course, and most importantly the internship we had, helped me to be confident in the abilities that I knew I had, but didn't know how to use.
Leadership Evaluation
Attached, you will find my Leadership Self-Evaluation. In completing this evaluation, I found that most of my lower-ranked areas were those in which problem solving or risk taking are involved! There was a pattern in these answers which was interesting to see. I learned a lot about myself in doing this!
MCLB Self-Evaluation
Do you feel that your project was worthwhile as a learner? Why or why not?
I feel that this project definitely taught me a lot as a learner. I learned that sometimes, it is more beneficial to engage others than yourself. I was already aware of the Relay for Life - but I now know after visiting these classes, that that isn't the case for many students at UPEI. Putting their involvement above my own was a very rewarding experience.
How did your project complement or add to your program management knowledge?
I definitely had to put my program management skills to work during this project - it was a lot of work to coordinate schedules between Kylie and myself, figure out when we would get to the classes, what we would do when there, how to engage the students, etc. I learned more about contacting professionals, conducting myself in a respectful manner when talking with faculty and event organizers, and also being of help for the students we are engaging.
Do you honestly feel that your community "partner" benefitted from your project work? Why or Why not?
I feel that our community partner (being the PEI Chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society) will benefit from our work - if the students put in their part. Any funds raised are valuable, so the Relay for Life is such an instrumental part of their fundraising.
Was the work distributed evenly in your group? What mark out of /2 would you give to each your group members?
Kylie and I have very different strengths - which ended up balancing each other out nicely. Where I struggle, she thrives, and vice versa. Kylie definitely worked hard on this project and deserves a 2/2.
What mark would you give yourself /2? Why?
I believe that I put a lot of work and effort into this project. Although it was challenging by times, I think that the end result is going to be very rewarding. I would also give myself a 2/2.

Pre-Fosal Results
When I began this assessment, I wasn't sure where it was going to take me. As I went through the questions, I found myself thinking more and more about what I answered, and why.
For example, the first section was fairly straight-forward for me. I understand myself at a level that I consider "healthy", and I know my strengths and weaknesses. However, right after that in the second section, I had to start thinking a little deeper. The questions made me think about how well I really know myself as a leader - and I realized it may not be as well as I thought. In fact, I think what left me puzzled (throughout the entire assessment) was the fact that I don't know what kind of leaders others see me as, so I don't really know how much of a role model I am, or if other people think I understand where they are coming from.
If you scroll through the other pages on this ePortfolio, under the UNIV203 section you will find a page about my leadership goals. One of them, from 2 years ago when I took that course, was to work on my self-confidence in my leadership abilities. I think that taking this assessment really reminded me how I need to be confident in my abilities - because deep down, I know I have them. Every day that I go to work, I am stepping into a leadership role. There is no way that after 8 years of work, I haven't learned anything about being a leader!
