SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT
"Teenagers can't make a difference"
We've proven that wrong. Give them $100, a few shoeboxes, set them free in the Dollarama, and watch something awesome unfold.
Background info:
I am the youth leader of Friday Night NOIZ, a youth group that takes place at Zion Presbyterian Church. For an added project for our youth, I chose to teach them about the true spirit of giving to others. Operation Christmas Child is an initiative started by Samaritan's Purse that sends Christmas Shoeboxes to less fortunate children in other countries. Our youth were divided into 4 groups, each with a leader in charge. We took them to the Dollarama for an hour, and let them fill their boxes without any help from the adult leaders. At the end of the night, we had four very thoughtful shoeboxes to send off.
